What do you mean by a “common language”?
We believe that journalism can help foster dialogue among people across the political, geographic, ethnic and linguistic barriers that divide them.
What kind of work do you produce?
We strive to tell stories in many different forms. While many pieces are published separately in other media outlets, we also consolidate our work here on this website, and use it as a place to experiment with innovative multimedia storytelling.
Do you accept submissions?
Yes! Visit our Submissions page for details.
How is the CLP funded?
Because we believe that media sources should be beholden only to their readers, we do not accept any advertising or ever sell subscriber information.
We have a hybrid funding model that includes support from the University of Washington's Department of Communication, foundation support for specific reporting projects from organizations like the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and KUOW's Program Venture Fund, freelance payments from the news organizations we work with and community support.
